The thin-layer preparation for the gynaecological cytology with the FDA certified Rovers® Cervex-Brush® Combi. Parablocks ASP are pre-formed blocks of paraffin that are provided in plastic molds. The preformed blocks fit easily into the paraffin chamber of the ASP Tissue Processor. Once the chamber is filled with the solid paraffin blocks, there is no need for the technician to return later to determine the paraffin volume and add additional paraffin. Reduced risks since solid blocks eliminate pellet spills and the need to transfer molten paraffin.

Paraplast is recommended for general tissue embedding. It is composed of a refined mixture of highly purified paraffin containing plastic polymers of regulated molecular weights. This supports improved tissue infiltration and quality sections with minimal compression. Paraplast gives brittle, difficult to section tissue an innate elasticity, promoting wrinkle-free sections. Paraplast Plus is suggested for large tissue or tissue that may normally present infiltration issues. Paraplast Plus contains a small percentage of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), allowing accelerated tissue penetration. Paraplast Xtra is recommended for lower temperature infiltration which aids in the prevention of tissue distortion. It is composed of a unique blend of low molecular weight polymers and highly purified paraffins for compression resistance and ribbon continuity. Low viscosity permits complete infiltration of dense tissue.

Formula 'R' is a next generation paraffin that enables thin sectioning with minimal compression and all-around ease of use. Formula 'R' is a semitransparent compound which can be used both as an infiltration and embedding medium. It has a low melting point (56-57º C, water bath temperature 45-50º C) and is available in 2 packaging options, a 2 lb. poly bag or 4.5 lb. jug. The perforated poly bag is easy to pour and takes up minimal space. The resealable wide mouth plastic jug facilitates pouring as well as disposing of the used paraffin.

Blue Ribbon is a universal paraffin containing synthetic polymers that can be used both as an infiltration and embedding medium. The paraffin enables the impregnation of tissue to occur rapidly and completely. The wax however will remain stable even at elevated temperatures. It is available in a case of 10 x 2 lb (0.91 kg) lightweight bags to facilitate handling. The bluish tint promotes better visibility of smaller or milky-colored/opaque specimens popular with Dermatology and Urology Labs.
